Baton
Twirling is a sport that encourages self confidence, quick thinking,
coordination, team work, positive attitude, self expression, and
gracefulness. It is available to students of all ages and skill levels. Classes Available
All students are taught a combination of baton twirling and dance as well as basic marching skills and a parade routine.
§ Baton I is for first year students who have never twirled before. After the first year, students are divided by ability. Students will either advance to Baton II for recreational twirling or they may be invited to join one of the competition teams.
§ Baton II is for students who have graduated from Baton I and want to continue to take baton, but do not want to compete.
§ Baton III and IV are for upper level students and it requires instructor approval to enroll in these classes. These classes offers more difficult twirling and dance moves. Students will also compete.
Private lessons
are also available for any student that would like one-on-one personal
attention for help with difficult moves, preparation for the next level
class, or learn more than may be covered in group classes. Every student may
choose to benefit from private lessons. Private lessons also open the door
to other twirling specialties such as flag and hoop twirling and the
opportunity to participate in solo competition.
Competition Team
Competition is a great way to showcase all the work that the students have put into performing their team routine. Our Broadway Bound Competition team twirlers have been competing since 2006 and they have won numerous awards at the state and regional level. Truly hard work really does pay off! Congratulations twirlers!
Solo Competition
Students who wish to enter competition as a soloist should contact the teacher routines geared toward showcasing the individual’s strengths in competition with other soloists in the New England region. Students may choose to specialize in twirling one baton, two batons, hoops, flags, and/or compete in the pageantry group.
Competition team member, Amanda Majchrzak recently competed at Miss Majorette of Massachusetts on January 8, 2012 and took home 1st place in the Novice Visitor age 10-12 solo twirl division. Congratulations Amanda!

2012 Baton Competition Schedule and Results
Summertime is also twirling time!
At Broadway Bound we offer Baton programs during the Summer months designed to provide new students a way to try their hand at twirling and to provide existing students year round practice and lessons to sharpen their skills. Summer camp is also a great opportunity for new students to learn the basic fundamentals of twirling and keep existing students practicing and enhancing their skills over the summer months. At summer camp students are also introduced to props such as hoops, flags, ribbons, and pom poms which enhance the performance beyond the traditional one baton twirling.
A complete schedule of classes is available on the Class Schedule page.
